Morgans Saaz Finishing Hops - 12gm
Flavour & Aroma Profile
Saaz (US) is an aroma hop that is typically used in only late boil additions, including dry hopping.
Saaz is a noble hop variety and is considered one of the oldest known. Saaz hops have aromas that include earthiness with a mild, spicy flavour. Saaz hops – regardless of the country they are grown in – are mostly only used for their aromas due to the low alpha acid content, which results in a delicate bitterness when added at the end of the boil.
Noble hops like Saaz are aroma varieties that have an extensive history behind them. The term ‘noble’ has been used since the 1980’s and refers to hops that have been used in brewing beer for centuries.
How to Use (General Steeping Method):
Steep: Place the hop sachet in a cup of boiling water (about 1 cup).
Wait: Let it steep for 10 minutes to extract flavours and aromas.
Add: Pour the steeped liquid and the hop bag into your wort (unfermented beer) at the desired stage (late boil, whirlpool, or to the fermenter after peak fermentation).
When to Add:
Late Boil/Whirlpool: For flavour and some aroma.
Fermenter (Dry Hopping): For maximum aroma, after fermentation slows.
Finishing hops are essential for brewers wanting to build complex aromas and flavours, making homebrews more professional and vibrant.
