Blue Lake Flaked Oats Infusion Pack - 250gm
A flaked oats infusion pack is a fantastic addition for extract brewers looking to add a rich, silky mouthfeel and stable head retention to their beer. They are incredibly popular for brewing Hazy IPAs, NEIPAs, and Oatmeal Stouts.
Malt grain infusion packs are small, pre-measured bags of cracked specialty malts used by extract brewers to easily add complex flavour, colour, aroma, and body to a canned or extract beer kit.
How to Use an Infusion Pack.
Prepare the Water: Bring 2 to 3 litres of water to a gentle boil in a small pot, then turn off the heat.
Steep: Place the flaked oats (inside a muslin cloth or grain brewing bag) into the hot water. If you want full starch conversion, stir in 250g of crushed pale malt at this step.
Rest: Cover the pot with a lid and let it sit for 20 to 30 minutes. Try to keep the temperature around 65°C to 68°C if you are trying to mash it.
Strain and Combine: Remove the grain bag, letting it drain completely into the pot (don't squeeze it too hard). Pour this smooth, starchy "oat tea" straight into your brew pot or fermenter before mixing in your main malt extract kit.
